Play Store App Setup

In order to publish the app, you will need to enroll in Google’s Play Store if you haven’t done so already. You can do so by visiting the Play Store Console. Make sure to complete the signup once you've created your Developer account. This process may take several days and must be complete before we can publish any apps.

Once set up, on your Home screen click Create App and match the settings below, except for the name. You can change this name later.

The next step is granting us access to manage the app for you. There are 2 sets of access we need:

  • From our developer accounts - we will use these to fill in all the necessary details for app review and upload the first build of the app (this has to be done manually)
    • gus.ward@the-dots.com
    • paul.werelds@the-dots.com
  • From our service account - this is used for our automated build and release process.
    • google-play@the-dots.iam.gserviceaccount.com

Make sure to select only the app you just created and then click "apply". You will then be prompted to grant the invited user permissions: we recommend "admin" as the only permission that is not necessary for us to operate your app are the ones under Financial Data.

Once that's done we'll take over for the app itself. There are, however, additional bits of information for you to fill out within the Play Console.

Next Steps

Once we've been granted access, we will upload a build to kickstart the app's further configuration.

  • We will upload a build to the Internal track in order to register the application ID.
  • As part of this process, we will enable Play Console App Signing
  • We will upload the initial metadata for the Play Store listing
  • We will also complete the "App Content" declarations
  • We will configure Deep Linking

From your side, there's some more administrative details to be filled in:

  • Grow > Store presence > Store settings: Store listing contact details should be filled in

Test Builds

We do not provide test builds via the Play Store; instead, these will be delivered to you via Firebase App Distribution.
